Going to Canton

Finally, Canton-i (The Gardens) is open for business and I gotta say, apart from their Mandarin-speaking waiters/waitresses, I was pretty blown away by the food. It was almost of Dragon-i standard.Instead of the usual drink, I opted for the tao fu fa which was quite a disappointment. The beancurd wasn't as smooth as the one from Petaling St. Good thing it wasn't too sweet.
XO Sauce Fried Radish Cake - XO Sauce is simply the 'magic' sauce...a few dashes in rice/ noodles/ below and it not only adds elegance to the name of the dish but it makes everything tastes awesome!
Fried Yee Mee with heaps of prawn (and you thought it was scallops?). Just a tad too plain-looking, otherwise...another winner! Noodles are crispy and the prawns super fresh and succulent.
I of course tried their signature Wan Tan Mee and while you have the option of choosing 2 meats, I went for the char siew and siu yok. (sorry, it's not halal). The sauce for the mee tasted rather different from the usual wan tan mee...not bad different, just different different. But the meat was heaven! Having some fat in your pork always makes it better.
Hence, our Canton dinner on Christmas Eve. Sa Jie had the soup version of Wan Tan Mee so you can imagine mine looked more tempting.

There's so much more for me to try there. Canton-i...I'll be back!
