darren is 2+

tO oUr deaRest darrEn,

You, my child turned 2 on Jan 6. How time flies, how fast you're growing up right under our noses.

Felt like it was only yesterday that i recorded your first ever cooing to daddy's rendition of Eminem's 'Love the Way You Lie'. Video enclosed here in case you have forgotten one of our proudest moments. ^^

Take a look at your 'more advanced' new toys given by your loved ones. Yes, they may look very challenging to you but mommy and daddy are always here to guide you along.

This year, you got an adorable little no '2' cake. Chocolate became your new best friend after that.
Remember, you should always blow out the candles first before sinking your teeth hands into your birthday cake.

At some point, you kept tugging at daddy's shirt to keep him away from your cake. Well, you should realise his left hand was already in close proximity of the cake.

Then, 'gong gong' and 'por por' decided to join in the fun too.
Yes, the cake is THAT mini, yet it looked so darn cute on our large dining table, dun you think so?

Objective of the event was to get one good shot of you looking like the happiest birthday boy in the world..

Job done!

At long last, you finally got your reward.

Then the independent you decided to self-feed...

..which turned out to be a bit of a mess.

Mommy and daddy pray you continue to grow up big and healthy.
We love you.

xoxo

darren makes ripples!

darren gets his first dip in the pool today and he loved it!

he was indeed making waves today.. ^^

darren's first doggy!

Check it out - Darren has a new bath companion!

This dog just loves to be in the water.

Though he was bone dry when i found him hanging on the shelves in MotherCare. Grabbed the one and only doggy for RM 19.

Classic toy, simple mechanism but cute to da max! I mean, have you ever seen a dog in green swimming trunks?

One thing's for sure, he swims like he's in the Dogolympics!
wOOf !!

english tea at the sterling

Nestled somewhere along Jalan Temenggong, Malacca (within 5 min walk from Capitol Satay Celup), lies a  little gem which i never knew existed until recently!

Right smack in the middle of Malacca town, lies luxury boutique hotel, The Sterling
A majestic, impressive-looking 37-room hotel which actually opened in Nov, 2011. Malu, took me more than a year to notice this white, British colonial structure in my hometown. -.-
Anyway, the reason of my excursion here was for an English afternoon tea at their rooftop cafe, The Loft.
I would have gone for al fresco dining if i were a gwai por...but i'm not.

The typical Malaysian would have chosen to be in a air-conditioned room - makes sipping hot tea all the more worthwhile. :-)

Never mind that the view from the inside is clearly nothing to shout about. Not unless i could see my house from up here.

All tables were nicely laid with the proper cutlery, which in my dad's case, a simple fork alone is all he needs to put food into his mouth.

Finally, our exquisite three-tiered tea tray (i just created a tongue twister!) arrived in time before my tea got cold... eh-hem.

UP CLOSE with...
My Chocolate Muffin.
My Raisin Scone
...served with cream and all kinds of spread.

My Chocolate Brownie and Shortcake Cookie
My Fruit Tartlet.
And a huge plate of sandwiches. Looks like an assortment of spreads, doesn't it? Alas, it was only one kind of vegetable mayo sandwich. Minor let down yo...
For the price of approximately RM 36 per pax, the pastries indeed exceeded my expectation in terms of taste and portion size, coupled with the cosy setting of The Loft.
Minor feedback - could be better if the 'sole' waiter would have been a bit more alert in refilling our coffee/ tea. Apart from that, dad's giving the thumbs up...Only one thumb, i see.

It was Darren's first English tea!
Darren and his red sugar sachet that was his best friend during the entire afternoon.

Now i should not be showing you this, but watdaheck....

The mess that we managed to accomplish in no time!

Anyway, we would have loved to dine and chat for much longer (after all, it's what people do at an English tea!), but looks like my lil time-keeper has spoken..............

Napping time for Darren also meant that it was tapao time.. (lol, ever heard of people tapao-ing their English tea?)
A contented Darren ready for bed........
Bet he dreamt of his little tea experience, which revolved around the tiny nibbles of white bread that he had.

darren turns O-N-E

Darren turns the big '1' on 6th Jan. 'Big' coz it's a huge milestone indeed. How time flies - i remember holding him in his swaddling blanket like it was only yesterday. A year later, we can proudly say we've survived those energy-draining 3am feedings, screaming baths and countless 'flying' poop-filled diapers.
Birthday decor came all the way from S'pore!
Sure my son would not have remembered all that went on during his birthday celebration, but it's certainly something he'll appreciate and cherish when he's old enough to see this family photo on his special day. ^^

In fact, Darren was so lucky to have 2 birthday luncheons held separately, which means he gets twice his share of cake,
and double his number of wishes! =D

We held both luncheons at the same place (and room), Chong Fatt Seafood Restaurant in Genting Klang. Why? Coz the food was just too good and at a pretty decent price too! Their 8-course set meals are certainly worth mentioning.

SuperSTAR of the day!!

Super CUTE Jelly Birthday Cake specially made for Darren! Jellycakehouse makes creative, beautiful jelly cakes at very affordable prices. Duncha just lurve the 2 white bunnies...Yummeh!

Me : "Go on, make your first ever birthday wish, Darren"

Darren : "I wish daddy will not force me to be a Man U fan". (hehe, Mark's gonna kill me for this)

Daddy : okie, now blow your candle.
Darren : "ah-boooooooo...."     (and candle flickers) hehe

Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes, gifts and angpows!

Soon, Darren will be taking his first baby steps all on his own.....and these REALLY do come in handy! (or should i say 'leggy')

Mega blocks from Aunty Millie!

AHHHH.....!

Now, if you'll excuse me, i have to go 'pull-along' Darren to his next destination.

Baby is now officially a toddler! Muaacks!!
