valentine treats

i love 2011 Valentine's day not because of some super unforgettable Valentine Day gesture, but simply because the following day was a public holiday. Meaning today.

This Valentine's, i insisted on celebrating by having a tv dinner in the comfort of our own living room.

wat, NOW only you know that all this while, i'm a very economical person?

anyway, thanks to jamie oliver who insists that home-cooked dinners can be easily whipped up in a matter of minutes, i decided to prepare the following for my other half and i.

Fresh Salad with Egg
(dear's jaw dropped when he saw this humongous bowl of salad)

Carbonara Macaroni with Crispy Bacon and Peas
(with lotsa lotsa parmesan cheese just the way dear likes it!)
Crispy Garlic Bread and Deep-Fried Fish Nugget
(ooo man, the fish was damn good....that's why you can never go wrong with Pacific West)
plus a whole big slow-cooker of very tasty Herbal Soup which i forgot to take pictures of.  =.=

Entire cooking process took me about an hour.
Entire eating process took us about 3 hours.

That was how long the entire screening of Grammy Awards was.
ok la, let the cat out of the bag, i had been eagerly anticipating to watch the Grammies that night, hence, our Valentine's tv dinner.

next year, let's go somewhere!

now let's take a look at our Valentine gifts.

no points for guessing whose gift is who's. :)

This morning, i woke up at 7 to join a bunch of hikers to Bukit Kiara.
Here we are at the peak with basically no view except for lots of fern bushes around.
Had a good 2-hour hike; feet was killing me at the end of the hike.
Serves me right for sitting on my lazy ass for far too long.
Hiking in Bukit Kiara was a first for me and golly, there were so many different trails and forks along the trails, thank god we had Edwin and his trusty GPS (for jungle use only la, not your usual one).
Though not as challenging as 'ah-Pek san', this hill still makes for a good place to train due its gradually steep tracks.
I will certainly return there one day....and get myself lost in the jungle.
Today I also met my favourite Romeo. As in Romeo, the dog.
And since he did not bark at me, claw me or try to bite me, i've decided to steal Romeo away from Derek one day. How could anyone not love this dog!!
Tonight, I went to Jun Kee for dinner with a few friends.
For those who are not familiar with this place...
It was a full house in which i told myself 'WOW, food must be good'.
We ordered a simple Tauhu with Fish Paste dish,
very nice Lotus Root, pak hup and walnut with mixed vege dish
 Stir fried Kai Lan
Then we decided it was gonna be a pork-y day, so we ordered some pork ribs
and crispy pork knuckle. stop salivating now, mark.
 Waste not, want YES!
Dinner was average tasting, price reasonable at RM 20/ pax.
Nice to catch up with some ex colleagues especially Susan and Carol whom i've not met in ages.
derek, pat, siew hwa, cko

mark, me, susan, carol

Now for an image which may be disturbing for some.
Couldn't help but notice this rather 'revealing' customer sitting near our table.
Cko calls it 'belahan maut' (the Deadly Slit).

Mark calls it 'lari cahaya' ('jao gong' in cantonese)

umm, sorry if i just spoilt your day.  :P
