cnys are a great time to get together and eat, dun you agree?
it was my first time eating at Sek Yuen, a very old Chinese restaurant along Jln Pudu. I used to pass by this place, mistaking it for a community hall due to its layout.
it was dinner with the jerneh gang, dear's ex-colleagues. it was one packed restaurant!
really got the cny feel la here!
our course dinner consisted of a yee sang and the following dishes ...
said to be their signature dish, i found the pei pa duck to be too salty and rubbery. maybe it was just the particular piece i took, i dunno..
the set included a plate of braised yee mee with lots of pork intestine.
overall, the food was average-tasting.
but my absolute fave was the double-boiled soup. from the look of this, you can tell how thick and rich the taste is.
so good is the soup, dear eat until the eyes oso blink blink.
so, is it worth the rm 330 we paid for the entire course for 10 pax? you be the judge :)
as i was wandering around the back part of the restaurant, the kitchen looks real cluttered though. and this is only the outer part. can't imagine how the part of the kitchen that we can't see, looks like.
at the end of dinner, everybody can't help but pose with their multi-patterned tea towel.
old-fashioned nya...
if only the whole place was air-conditioned, then dun need to eat until all sweat-sweat...
gong xi gong xi! here's to more good meals to come...
i have 14 more days to pack on the pounds...burp.
i think they have an air-conditioned section next door... not too sure, coz the last time i went was 2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteyup they do...but the older one looked more 'authentic' lo..lol
