Omakase doesn't come cheap, generally a decent one costs above RM 400/set locally. There's one place to be if you're looking for an economical option and of course, do not mind letting the chef decide your selection of sushi for the day. Works great if you're a novice in omakases.
The place to be is Senso Izakaya at Empire City, Damansara where they were running a promotion of either RM 99+ per pax for the Standard Omakase or RM 159+ per pax for the Premium Omakase. Do check their FB page for updated promotional info.
Being here certainly brought back memories of my first unforgettable omakase experience in Tokyo last year. This time around, sis-in-law and mom-in-law joined us for a local taste of omakase.
the kids were seated at the table awaiting for their ala carte meal.
Their meal were sumptuous as well!
Our local sushi chef for the meal, and here we go!
(Hint: Larger pictures simply mean they get my 2 thumbs up!)
Appetizer was a concoction of only the freshest ingredients and it was a great way to kick off whats-to-come!
Salmon Belly
Clam Soup (quite bland actually, clams could have been meatier)
Ikura (salmon roe)....give me more!
Tuna (not belly though)
Engawa Sushi (flounder fin) ..simply melted in my mouth!
Anago sushi (sea eel) ... awesome!
Snow crab leg sushi
Hotate Sushi (scallop) ... who doesnt love a sweet sea-scented scallop!
Ebi Sushi (sweet prawn) .. oh yeaaa, those orange balls on them are a bonus
After the end of our sushi course, then came the cooked stuff.
Starting with the most delicious plate of seared scallops (YES, more scallops)
Yakitori Chicken and grilled King Mushrooms (loved the mushrooms but the sauce was a tad too sweet)
Tamago and Cheese Grilled Prawn
Grilled stingray fin (my first taste was pleasant, crispy with some chewy parts, plus it was pretty sweet)
As dessert, all we got was a bowl of ice topped with A slice of kiwi and couple of blueberries (forgot to take a photo). Could those have been air-flown from Japan? LOL
