indian jewel of the park

Are you a fan of North Indian or South Indian cooking?

I've always known there're differences between these 2 but just can't put my finger on it.
Now, I've learned from Mr Wiki that North Indian cuisine are more into flavours and aromas (using lots of onion, garlic, ginger, tomatoes), having spicier curries and oil/ghee-laden dishes of meat, not to mention the infamous Naan bread.

On the other hand, South Indian food are the healthier option, uses lots of coconut milk and mainly vegetarian. Yogurt is widely used and i guess there's where the banana leave rice came from.

Frankly, both suits me just fine. Once a while, i have a penchant to go Indian and the last time that happened, dad recommended this Indian restaurant.

The moment i walked into this little cosy restaurant, there was that strong whiff of 'Indian' air.....haha, u know what i mean.
Nice decor though, homey feel
Their menu - definitely lots of South Indian dishes here.

Then, we have the Vegetable dishes. All in all, i would say the prices are slightly steep, for the serving we got. See what i mean below.....

The Naan Cheese was nothing compared to my favourite from Steven's Corner, but the plain chappatti was nice and fluffy with just the right tinge of flavour from the wheat flour.

I forgotten the names of these dishes but i'm sure you can tell it's a chicken dish (on the left). duh!
The right dish is a vegetable dish, try guessing what vege was drowned in all those gravy....

Lady fingers.

Their best dish that night (must be their signature one too) was the Briyani Mutton (or whichever meat to your liking). Cooked to perfection!

Their drinks menu was very 'Indian' too, with drinks like Masala Tea and Masala Milk for the adventurous first-timers. Mark tried the Masala Tea and really had a lot of masalah with the tea. It was too sweet and overpowering with spices. Definitely not my cup of tea, literally.

I'm a fan of lassi so i opted for their Mango Lassi and boy oh boy, it turned out to be damn sour and real tangy (yogurty). Wow, can't get any more authentic than this.

These are the shiniest cups of sky juice i've ever drank from, in a restaurant. Looked like they're hand-polished every single day.

A neatly decorated place, great for family dinners and get-togethers.

The restaurant is worth visiting if you're into Indian cuisine.
Tucked away in my little kampung, Bukit Beruang, this place is known as Jewel of the Park.
A real gem that many have yet to discover.
