my first Chindian wedding

I attended my first-ever Indian + Chinese couple wedding dinner. Nothing too lavish; just a simple get-together joyous celebration of the happy couple!
This are both my colleagues - Vijay and York Cheng. The bride wore this real pretty saree...(wonder how i look in one)
..and then changed into this simple yet elegant gown later on.
and now, focus on us! :P
Phang (the ang-pow colllector that night) and Choy Phyll
Ngow Yong with little Bernice
don't put your fingers in the mouth...

A toddler's reaction when faced with DerekLim ...

I've learnt that this is how my meal is served in a Chindian wedding dinner
Ta-Daah!!
Dishes are served with Nasi Beriani
The gastronomy delight of our dinner was best desribed as such :-
" hou hou sek ah!!"
Choy Phyll to Siew Fong : "Are you gonna finish those?"
( Damn sedap, Mummy eat first, baby come later...)
Mark : "I had 6 pieces of fried chicken!"
What was left of the dishes...
More pictures of me and the gang...
Isn't it nice what they wore to the wedding? aiiik I feel so out-of-place.
Congrats, V&Y! ^_^

dad's birthday outing at wongkok cafe

what a pleasant surprise when mummy, daddy, brother and sil took the bus down from malacca to kl just to see me. since i wasn't able to go home that weekend for daddy, my family came up...and it wasn't even MY birthday! ;-P brought them to wongkok for the free gigantic milk tea drink, exclusively for the birthday boy!
see how excited my daddy looks!

nahh, he didn't actually finish the whole mug of tea...this was what i asked my daddy to pose as.
hahaha...all mine!
good times with family!
you can drown yourself in Wongkok's free milk tea as well. just bring the birthday dude or dudette here, either 3 days before or after the actual birthdate and spend RM 30 (by ordering food, obviously!). at least 6 pax would be best, don't come alone.
this is not Wongkok anymore - but this was where i experienced my very first reflexology session...
RM 25 for 30 minutes and all i can say is 'oUcH!' and 'geli-nya'

the zoo

Made a trip to zoo negara recently with my family - my second time here.

Don't worry, I'm not about to post pictures of animals I saw and start labeling them 'this is a tiger' or 'here's a deer' or 'look, a giraffe!'

Partly also because we did not have any camera with us, hence I was fully dependable on samsung baby.

All I snapped were these storks who were trying to run away from me as I chased them for a closer shot...
sure they ran faster than me, they got skinnier legs!

The most fascinating thing I witnessed that day was this smiley elephant..
and no, he wasn't displaying an acrobatic stunt in a show,
..the poor fella was trying to reach out for sugarcane which was displayed at this counter.
Only thing, the sugarcane was actually for sale to the public who wants to feed this poor animal here. Ohh, the agony of watching this elephant stretching his trunk farthest possible, only to be denied of his sweet meal...After a couple of minutes of trying, he must have been so devastated coz he let out this small cry...aww poor big guy.
so near yet so far..
It was a good zoological adventure for me and family. My only disappointment - the Penguin House was stark empty.
It was the driest north pole look-alike display. I mean, had the penguins gone on holiday and went back home?

skytrex high ropes adventure

Here's a clue on what this is all about.......

scream after me, Tarzan-style..........."Orr YEE-oRR yEE-oRRRrrrrr!!!"
thanks to our sports club, i had the opportunity to try out the Skytrex high elements/flying fox adventure in the lush Bukit Cahaya Agriculture Park. it's a great way to overcome one's fear of heights, also known as 'acrophobia' (luckily not the case with me). plus, if you're looking for a place to scream your lungs out or show off your tarzanic skills, well, this is it, fellas!
me and yin at the entrance; see how afraid i look already?? *_*
there's never a dull moment, except if you were the first to arrive and you had to wait for the rest of the pack

And once we hopped onto the bus that takes us deep into the jungle (where all FUN starts), we knew there was no turning back!!
oh no..what have we gotten ourselves into!!
(mark takes a sip to calm his nerves?)
The most important thing during this outing is s-a-f-e-t-y; and the second most important thing is listening very closely to the instructors and following their orders every step of the way. Do this and I'm pretty sure you can avoid even the slightest scratch or bruise by the end of the day.
Each of us wore a harness equipped with 2 carabiners and a pulley
Even to put on the harness took about 10 minutes for me! And the guy who helped me wear it kept telling me i'm too skinny for the harness, even after tightening to the max! well, as long as my ass doesn't fall out of the harness in mid-air, i'm fine.
the effect of too-tight a harness! lol
some REAL excited faces who welcomes the fear factor challenges!!
our trainer; petite looking female but she climbs like a weasel!
The briefing session just before the 'real thing' is a must as this was where we learnt how to operate and fully rely on those 'stuff' hanging around our waist. I was wondering, is this how wearing a chastity belt feels like? For beginners (like me), even to remember the word 'c-a-r-a-b-i-n-e-r' was a difficult task. Maybe i can relate it to 'Kara', the 4th judge of American Idol.
Those carabiners (metal hooks) are the only things that will save me from plopping onto the ground like a ripe tomato, in case i lose my balance and fall!
Looking peanuts to you? That's because this is only the training ground.
THIS is the real deal!!
There are 3 courses to choose from-
1) Little Adventure (30-40 mins, RM 25)
2) Extreme Challenge (min 2 hours, RM 40) - newly opened in June '09
3) Big Thrill (1.5 - 2 hours, RM 35) - ours!
These fees are on top of the RM 3 entrance fee into Bukit Cahaya.
It's like an obstacle course, and one where you have to endure on your very own with no outside help!! That is why you have to listen very carefully during the brief.
I was quite surprised that once we were up there, it was kinda like 'ok, so long, take care, hope you come back in one piece..'
So thank god we went in a group so we could look out for one another. Girls, trust me..you'll need some strong muscles to help pull you up or give you a push for that nerve-wrecking headstart during the flying fox...i know i did... heee.
some of the obstacles are a piece of cake! *bangga*

Some are slightly more challenging, like when there's no netting around me and the only thing on my mind was whether those trees can cushion my fall..errr.
The plank walk - my oh my, what big steps I will have to take.
Another kind of plank-walk where you can easily contract the 'wobbly-knee' syndrome.
They have just the cutest names for their obstacles.
This was a toughie for me and I kinda cheated by flying-foxing between those ropes! muahahaha....
Another adorable name-calling
errr this is me looking more like monkey sLy than Lara Croft...
There was also a net challenge like in those army commando training centres.Truthfully, I never ever would have imagined myself swinging from a tree-top and lunging into a net like this...it was so much fun!
Me with Cher and errm...(whodatagain)..werr, what i'm trying to say is only a maximum of 3 persons allowed on a tree-top station at one time. And at ALL times must our carabiner be hooked onto the ropes, just in case someone accidentally elbows me or the winds blows me OFF the tree-top. Don't be like me who forgotten (twice!) to hook myself up..keke..
My favourite part of the course was the flying fox and there were about 3 or 4 times i got to do it! very very enjoyable...haaaaaa...and this coming from a girl who's afraid of roller-coasters.
Enjoying lunch after a whole lotta mid-air fun!!
Later we found ourselves some dirt bikes, so we grabbed one each to pose with..'cept me of course..huuhuu..
Too bad as the park was about to close, we didn't have time to ke-poh around doing other stuff like biking, fishing or hiking up Bukit Sapu Tangan- so we took more photos lor!

All in all, I recommend everyone to at least try this once! Of course, there'll be moments where you'll be thinking 'can i do this...dare i do that..'
..and scary moments...
...coupled with your fear of heights and no safety net!
but that is sooo part of the FUN and thrill and adrenalin-rush all of us need once in a while!! Donchu agree?! ^_^
So for the bunch of us adventure-freaks...
...it's another feather on our cap for us! tee~hee
