chilling in GentinG

Once upon a Labour's Day, i was stuck in what felt like a scorching hot oven the size of KL city. So i decided to gather my bestie, Yin... and a couple of other 'labourers'...(hee)
Mark & Moon pulls off their 'coool look'

for a road trip...
Behold the 'Floating Water Pipe'(!)

to the City of Entertainment G-e-n-t-i-n-G!
It's been ages since my last trip here and where better to cool down and enjoy the chilly air if not in Genting, right? In memory of the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, there is now a gallery dedicated to him where we can now read about his life achievements (not that I read la :P)
and be awed by the awards and recognition received throughout the establishment of this golden empire.
Look who even made it to this gallery...it's KiMi Raikkonen!
KiMi's handwriting is soooo similar to mine... *wink*
Lookie, I got a free pass to all-park!
We covered the outdoor theme park first as the morning was simply tooo lovely to spend indoors.
See what I mean? It doesn't look sunny at all! aaahh this is the 'natural' air-conditioning we all need in KL...
Introducing siu V's ...
Scary Ride No 1 -
Scary Ride No. 2 -
Scary Ride No 3 -
And when i say 'Scary Ride', i reallly mean scaaaary ride!!
And obviously i stayed far far away from those heart stopping, life-sucking hell machines!!
Dare me to do something else like... eat worms?
This was something new for me...Beryl's Chocolate Wonderland.
Nowhere near Charlie's Chocolate Factory (go read Roald Dahl!), it would really be something if this place was flowing with streams of real chocolate syrup and everything was made of real chocolate.
On second thought, probably not in Malaysia,
or else everybody would be doing this...
My favourite was the Teacup! Spin me round and round, you'll never see me down.We must be feeling 'old' coz we even went on the Antique Car!
Feel even 'older'? Take the Ferris Wheel then.
Soft toys you can win at the fun fair section. Luckily they looked 'cheap', otherwise I'll be buying token after token and playing like nobody's business.
The boat ride's pretty fun too! Best thing was there's no time limit so you can pedal till the sun goes down or till your legs get tangled in knots from pedaling too much.
And knowing us, it soon became a version of Bumper Boat.
Group take - the wacky version
Group take - the serious version
It was so misty come night time, our pictures turned out like this.
Fooling around
Fooling around by Mark
Mark trying to be funny (and friendly) with his new buddy
Somewhere indoors, I came across this ad at this booth. If only I had bought their cookies to see how it can make me 'more feminine'.
You can't say you've been to Genting without stepping into their Casino.
I'm always curious what car they were giving out for the Jackpot.
Wow, I can just picture me driving around in one of these babies.
ouuh! Lady Luck wasn't with me that night as I lost 100 bucks in 'Sin City'.
Another bonus for the night was watching (and sorta learning) the guys play pool in the Genting Recreational Clubhouse (for staff only, mind you)
Thanks to Hwee Nee (I hope I got the name right) who is Mark's baby sista!
She's the cutie beside Moon. See the resemblance? (not really..haha)

nong & jimmy for some thai

If you are an ardent fan of Thai food, you might have heard of Nong & Jimmy in Taman Cahaya, Cheras. Always a jam-packed restaurant, it's outdoor so it can be pretty warm dining here, unless you find yourself a nice spot right in front of their huge fans.
And you had better be quick to order as everything here is fast-paced, including the time to order till the time they take to serve your dishes. Don't be like Mark who was dreaming...
or like us 3 musketeers who were busy taking photos while the 'auntie' waited in exasperation for us. hee.
This is their popular appetizer, Yue Tiao with Kaya Dip. I must say the quality of the bread is not too consistent as it was more chewy and tasted somewhat 'uncooked' compared to my last visit..why oh why...
Steamed Fish was the best dish by far..yum...
Sotong Bakar - quite rubbery and dry..i only had 2 pieces!
looks more like mushrooms here
Tom Yam Soup - you know it's my favourite!!..b..but not so up to my standard la this one! It IS spicy though.
The ever popular Kangkung Belacan! For me, tastes good whoever cooks it.
Something you might usually see dished up at home, is the Mixed Vegetable Platter.
Still we did our best to gobble up everything!
And even managed to get their busy staff to take our gang photo!
All in all, the din din was around RM 90 for 5 of us, so go figure.

For me, it was a slight disappointment as I find the quality of food has deteriorated since my visit here last year. Still telling myself my taste-buds were probably just out-of-sync that night. Hee..Unless someone can convince me otherwise, this place's a stay-away area for me for now.

a chance to catch american idol finale gone *poof*

Are you a fan of American Idol? Coz I AM!
Recently Hitz.FM/ Starworld ran this contest on air to gather a group of about 10 participants to select one winner to watch the finale live in L.A. As these lucky few gathered at Cineleisure one recent Sunday for the ultimate showdown, 3 additional places were alloted that day for the public to play too!
Talk about a chance of a lifetime (!), my friend 'Mr Lucky' Marky's name was drawn to join in the game..he was also the first person to register for the draw leh (no 001)!

The game as you can see was 'Giant Human Monopoly'.

Basically it's exactly like the home version kind, 'cept that the humans were the playing pieces. Using a giant dice, the objective was to finish the 'walk-of-fame' on the board while collecting as many golden tickets as one can. And how so?
Well, depending on which box you land on, you either need to answer an A.I.-based question (which ain't easy at all),
or perform some kinda stunt known as 'live action' which, err of course is meant to embarass the players a bit...(boy oh boy, now I'm grateful I didn't get picked! heee)
Marky doing the turtle spin, then was later called a TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle)
Then, Marky had to do a catwalk pulak, followed by the infamous Michael Jackson squeal, "Owwh'
Number of golden tix looking good, Mark!..so far.
But oh nooo, he had to go land on a penalty box where 3 golden tix were taken from him!! =_=
awww, man..

There was a tie between the 2 winners so they had to battle it out with their best rendition of a song from A.I.
While finalist #2 sang 'Endless Love' rather effortlessly, it was Finalist #1 who charmed us all with his jovial version of 'I'm Yours' sung to his son! Can you believe he was playing the game earlier with his son in his arms the entire time? Hmm, strategy in play, perhaps?
oh Hohh..that lucky b*gger!!
You can even hear him on air nowadays, gloating about his win! Benjamin's his name, me think.
At least Mark got to go on stage for his few minutes of fame and was even in an exclusive photo shoot with the rest of dem players. Should have asked Starworld when you will appear on TV ler dude!
And I played cheerleader for almost 2 hours during the monopoly game. Yes, it took THAT long for the first player to cross the finishing line + collect a bonus of 5 golden tix! Lucky Benjamin ler tu.
All contestants got a goodie-bag at the end of the day..check out their Idol T-shirts!
Ean's T even says 'Ryan' at the back; no points for guessing that JJ's T says 'Seacrest'!

JJ and Ean called Mark 'Mr Speedy' as he was always throwing sixes and fives and getting way ahead from everyone else on the board. Maybe that's why Ean can't wait to cekik him.
My turn to pose with the Morning Crew. cool.
So what if we didn't win the biggie, chances like this don't come every day.
At least I got my Jennifer Hudson & Kelly Clarkson cds, Idol T-shirt and A.I. speakers!
While we're on this subject, can I just say I really really hope Adam Lambert is the next American Idol! Rock on, baby!

siuV out.
