burp!

Having a newborn in our lives is not all hoopla.
The fact is we have never been so deprived of sleep these 2 months (and running). Being able to 'steal' an hour or even 30 mins of nap time during the day feels like an achievement of great success.
It doesn't help either that Darren is real punctual when it comes to feeding time.
He could be sound asleep one moment and suddenly break into the biggest wail the next moment, wanting to be fed right away. Dragging myself out of my snoring slumber is both mentally and physically draining.

Just this morning at 4.30am, i couldn't even keep my eyes open while struggling to bottle-feed Darren. Waving a hundred bill in front of me would not even wake me. I was just THAT sleepy.

Here's how Darren's father would usually be like during middle-of-the-nite feeds. Note, photos are not posed.

This was dear experimenting with the 'over the lap' burping motion on Darren.
Risky, but ...
... strongly resembles a certain super hero at times.

More often than not, father's spontaneous reactions would draw this endearing puzzling look from child...

yawnnn..... that's all for now....i see a chance for a nap right now!

p.s. - dun worry, that was the first and last time we tried the above burping technique, deemed too risky and messy should Darren vomit milk all over the carpet. tee~hee.

an awesome full moon partay

Since it is customary for the Chinese to celebrate the full moon of a baby when they reach 1 month old, lil Darren had his share of fame and glamour as we held his full moon dinner party on 11 Feb.
Conveniently held it at my condo,
where i was able to rent their multi purpose hall for a hundred bucks.
You can faintly see me inspecting the buffet spread here.
Inside the hall, 2 hours prior to the event, family members were prepping the hall with balloons and stuff. Perfect timing for CKO and Siew Hwa to show off their balloon-blowing skills - something i could never master (i'm referring to balloons).
An array of dishes prettily lined-up and enough to feed a hundred hungry hogs!
Moon and Shie Meng were the earliest to arrive so they got to play with Darren who was still in his blue pajamas.
Soon after, the guests started arriving.......with their gifts for Darren ;D
I haven't met up with my cousins and aunt in about a year (even though they live in KL)!
Me escorting Ai Lin to the hall.
With Yin, Jin, Siew Hwa and CKO.
So glad Jewel and Sook Jeng made it too that night, despite being 'sesat' a few times.
 With besties Jin and Yin.
Agnes, you came late! But then, better late than never...  =D
Dear with his ex-colleagues from Jerneh.
My ex-colleague Edward, whom i think has gotten even taller than before?!
More photos with my departmental colleagues - before and current. (oops Yin, why're u here geh?)

Then later that night, the moment everyone was waiting for....

Ta-daah...Darren made a special appearance !
So, as some guests made comments on who Darren resembles the most,
..others were busy taking pictures of him (the HUGE 'camera' my dad's holding is his iPad)
...while one was so damn happy that she's going through motherhood soon. (That's my very preggy cousin Jo)
As the superstar of the night, check out Darren's game face. lol.
All in all, it was one hectic but very fulfilling night indeed. Much thanks to all who made it
and for those who brought gifts and ang-pows.
Thanks to caterer, Banana Cafe for the sumptuous dinner and professional services who came and fed us soooo much....
...poor Derek had to tapao most of it back since he was the last guest to leave. Hmm, talk about strategy...hehe.
And i'm most appreciative of sis and her hubby for putting up Darren's 'Hall of Fame' in the shortest period of time. These photos are all over my fridge now, by the way.

Last but not least, Darren must have loved being the centre of attention as he was seen smiling in his sleep that night. See the blush on his cheek?

ok la, that's not a real blush. hehe.

birthday : sis

Since i'm in the state of confinement at the moment, it basically means people have to come TO me, rather than i go to them. That explains why the birthday girl, sista Millie was in my house recently for her birthday celebration. :D

Mum cooked a variety of dishes for dinner.
We bought a cute little cake for sis who has not had a birthday cake for ages.
Darren joined in the fun too with us ladies.
The extremely light Blueberry Cheese Cake. So light the cream cheese tasted like whipped cream. Love the decoration though.
"Why so surprised to get a gift from me geh, sis?"

when darren met polly

When Aunty Polly came to visit cheeky Darren...

Till they meet again ...

darren - random...

Darren welcomes visitors now :)
He's so young now, he's oblivious to whoever's carrying him. As long as he is being cuddled and feels the warmth, he is one happy tot.
Lovely gifts from baby's Uncle Jason and Auntie Millie ...
An AWESoMe pressie from his Uncle Victor and Auntie Irene...
It's too big for Darren to put on now but his daddy sure can't wait for the day he and his son parades around with their jerseys. (what about my jersey leh?)
Baby is known to have big eyes so we are constantly on the lookout, standing by with the cam cam.
Here are some eye-catching moments when....

Baby's eyes were BIG,
 BiGGER...
 and....

get ready....

...BIGGEST!!!

* dun worry, no baby was harmed during any of these photo shoots. i promise.  :D
