malaysia day office decoration

If there's one memorable way to celebrate Malaysia Day, it's to have it in the office and get everybody involved in it! This year, each floor of my office were to compete to decorate and reflect the true meaning of Malaysia Day, with a recycling theme.
At our customer service level
Work on my floor began couple of weeks earlier, supervised by a bunch of my colleagues who i think, had really creative ideas to begin with. For one, i really liked the idea of hanging sarees on the ceiling to brighten up the entire work space.
Thanks to Aruna who brought her mom's entire collection of (old) sarees to be hung. ><
So, so many details on almost every corner of my floor, here are just a few of the decor....Love the kolam and hibiscus flag.
Managed to busy-bodied to other floors to gawk at their decor and here are just some of the shots i took...
Never felt so damn patriotic in an office...
..and for some reason, the 'Oppa Malaysia Style' parody kept playing in my head that entire day..wtf..
The wonderful thing about our country is the numerous races and ethnicities, each one unique on its own and yet all united under one sovereign. So you can imagine the burst of colours and vibrant atmosphere at my office when the day of judging finally came. There were specially decorated corners to signify the Chinese,
Malays...
..and Indian community living amongst us.
While we made used of sarees in our effort, others pinned up their home-brought traditional wear in their cubicles. Pretty much looked like they were attire up for sale.
One of my favourites has got to be this cheeky-looking home made television (black and white somemore, mind you)! And the picture with Tunku in it is just perfect! Too bad they used an actual radio to go with it. hehe.
Another funky creation is the papier mache durian and mangosteen. Cute.

Enough of the decorative items around the office - let's look at how my colleagues and i 'decorated' ourselves for the occasion. OK la, not much of a dress-up for me, just a matter of stuffing myself into my wedding, PRE-pregnancy white lacy cheongsam.

Danny and Moon looking goooooood in their baju Melayu

Photos with Wai Cheng who just left AXA. All the best in life girl!

A va-va-voom Fong in a stunning red and gold saree.

The moment of truth came with the arrival of the judges, who were of course, a few pre-selected colleagues.
Derek (with the videocam) impressively pulls off the 'UNCLE' look...belly and all. lol.
My entire floor stood in line, eagerly waiting for the judges to stroll in...

Choy Phyll (one of the judges, lucky us!) is beaming from ear to ear as she leads the pack of judges. Doesn't she look ravishing in a blue saree...?
We all sang the 'Satu Malaysia' song with Danny as usual, stealing the show from everyone. Patriotik betol! haha...
Some group photos...

And now, with everyone on the 3rd floor...

When the results were out, i think we came out 4th out of an overall 11 floors.
Kudos to everyone, i think we were all winners in our own way! Moreso, to Dr Parveen (the cute chick in a light blue Punjabi suit, kneeling down in front) who was the floor leader.

I truly never felt this much closeness and togetherness among all races. =D

video : darren reacts to animal sounds

It all started when Darren was all laughs, being entertained by his daddy's animal sounds.
As i recorded this video, it was Darren who became the ultimate entertainer.
Not to mention, he just lurvesssss polishing my leather sofa with his two tiny feet. ~.~

happy birthday, mOOn mOOn

Cafe Taka in Pavillion serves good quality Japanese food infused with a Western twist. By this, i mean you can have a go at their Teriyaki Chicken Pizza, Chicken Katsu Burger or even Unagi & Egg Pasta, to name a few.
So there we were for Moon's birthday lunch..much to my delight of course.. ~.~
Here're are pics of us trying to act cute creative with the love letter sticks in our sundaes...lame..hahaha..
Instead of the conventional birthday cake which we usually end up not finishing, this year we bought 2 boxes of Hokkaido Cake, containing altogether 12 pieces of heavennnnnn....
The soft fluffy chiffon cake has the most distinct custard creamy filling that just melts your heart when you sink your teeth into it. For a promotional price of RM 16.80 (box of 6 cakes), it's seriously worth trying, be it the original (vanilla), strawberry or chocolate filling. It's so blardy soft, any toothless granny can enjoy it.
BEST EATEN COLD.
BEST eaten amongst good friends!
Happy Birthday Moon Moon!!
(Still owe you your gift, wtf.. hahaha)

nuby

This ain't an advert, just something i would like to share on a baby's teething woes. As helpless as i feel, watching darren whimper in pain whenever his tiny white pearls feel like protruding out his pinky gums, i do have a certain brand of sippy cup to thank for.

One of Nuby's star products is their non-drip cup with silicone spout. Ok, this may or may not be the only brand with this design of a cup.
I actually bought this cup by chance coz there wasn't any other free-flow sippy cup suitable for a 6-month old baby, in the shops that i went to.
My Darren's REDHOT Nuby ....
You know how a baby tends to refuse his milk bottle when the teething agony strikes? Instead of the sucking motion which irritates his gums even further, darren ends up biting on the bottle teat.
Wowee, I made a new discovery with a Nuby!
Bite on the spout and the milk flows out through the tiny anti-colic valves. So it's like BITE, FLOW...BITE, FLOWWW...

It's got little teething nubs to massage a baby's gums.
Best thing is look, no spills and no leak!
So darren's hanky stays clean and dry. =D
The cup's spout IS rather huge for darren's tiny mouth, but as long as it works, baby!
And i hope it continues to work for a long long time.

at bee won's

Since my last visit to Korean restaurant Jung Won about a year ago, i've recently rekindled my passion for Korean cuisine at Bee Won, Festival City (Setapak).

The perfect Korean dining place that serves big portions of decent yet tasty food that absolutely will not burn a hole in your pocket!

The best seller of course being their Beef Set.....
Even the non-beef-eating foodies will fall in love with the tender juicy slices.
Try their Hot Bean Paste Broth, which can easily be described as 'got kick ah!"
For a price of RM 15 (nett) a set, i gladly decided to become a 'regular' of Bee Won's.
Though i must remember to go during non-peak hours to avoid the usual beeline of customers.
Will certainly try the BBQ one day, just so i could write about it! =D

Baby in bumbo
