Formula 1 Race Day, Sepang 2009

Did I mention that I experienced watching live the F1 race some 4 years ago? That was also KiMi's first win ever in F1. Aaah, it was love at first sight!
Once again, the Formula One Grand Prix revisits our Sepang International Circuit from 3-4th April 2009. And who would be so lucky to attend this glamorous historical sports event? Not me of course, but Wai Wah and Mark.
Though the race was scheduled to begin at 5pm this year (thanks to some really 'smart-ass' people!), it was a consolation to see clear blue skies at around 3pm, which then turned into doubt and speculation when more and more grey clouds appeared later on.
What i like about attending the F1 (apart from the race itself la..) - those sexy babelicious motor girls
and the official merchandise on sale there! of course they don't come cheap. Buy Original!
Walking towards the Grandstand seats...weather looks awesome (for now)!
The view from where the guys were seated was mind-blowing!
The big screen looks almost surreal against the background of a gloomy-looking sky. nice.
A cultural performance before the race. Malaysia Boleh!
Look how close they were to KiMi's garage! eh but how come so many people loitering around? Give him space, people! heehee
The starting point...notice the Visit Malaysia sign. Can it get any bigger I wonder?
KiMi in the pits!...Check out the hoards of cameramen trying to snap from the roof-top.
With the completion of only 31 laps out of 56, the skies finally opened up with a downpour so heavy, they brought out the red flags (means race is stopped).
As the drivers wheeled their cars back to the starting point (in the rain),
some return to the pits and the entire area lights up like it was a night-race!
After a 50-minute wait, FIA stewards decided to stop the race there and then, as it was getting dark and the track conditions can be slippery and treacherous. For that, drivers get only half the points and the spectators only got half of what they came for. bummer.
Once again, Jensen wins and here we see PM Datuk Seri Najib handing him the newly-designed hibiscus-inspired winner's trophy!

I sure hope the authorities would switch to the original time of 2pm for this race next year.

Then maybe Ferrari would be able to score some points. Gee, this used to be DE track that KiMi could really Command and Conquer!!

  1. wowee! told u i shdve waited for this article to be born LOL! As expected, d whole place was packed. Parking was an issue. But d main attraction would have to be d engine sounds. To actually experience how deafening those sounds are is a real gem (without earplugs of cos maybe cos i forgot to buy)! My poor ears are only able to adapt after 20 laps or so. Next year if we are lucky enuf we go together again yea LOL.
