attractions in Malacca ... part two

WARNING : What you're about to view may not go down too well for some. As a result, you may experience some kind of spontaneous bodily reaction or flowing juices that could only leave you wanting more than what I have to offer here.

Featuring something very important to mankind -
something we all know as

F-O-O-D.

I present you the true state of gluttony; over a period of 2 days. No, of course I don't mean pics of me gobbling on food in a disgusting manner (!).

I warn you, if you are feeling hungry at this very moment, turn back now...!!

Bukit Beruang Goodies (that's my hometown la)

Dim Sum
Cheap, good dim sum - Fried radish cake takes the cake for best dish! (eh, i just created a tongue twister)
Pan-Mee (not your typical kind with only the fried anchovies and minced pork, this one has also Babe's intestine and liver for additional zing (zinc?)

The fried anchovies btw, ada standard la!

Duck-Mee once noted by The Star as one of d best in Malacca!
Donald and Lily's, Jln Kota Laksamana
Nyonya food specialist...
more importantly, they make one of d best chendol in town!
I have yet to find a Singaporean who hasn't heard of this place.
err, sour ke?

Hee Kiaw (Fish Paste Noodle)

I'm no fan of fish ball/ paste,
but this stall is supposedly one of the best around, and this is how a bowl of 'Hee Kiaw' looks like.
Btw, 'Hee Kiaw' so sounds like a donkey calling. hee-haw.
Anything tastes better when shared.
The Museum Cafe, Jonker Street
Where there's a queue, there has to be good food, namely their
Baba Kari Laksa
& Nyonya Asam Laksa
(see how they are both topped with a spoonful of cencaluk)
Durian Chendol
Loi's Bakuteh Beef
Have you seen anything like this - Beef Bakuteh in a claypot.
Before...
and After!
Mee Rojak, Jln Durian Daun
The stall that is undecided on its name,
serves excellent Mee Rojak
and a not-too-spicy Soto Ayam
Ming Sate, Plaza Mahkota
Been here numerous times for its Sate Babi.
Juicy tender chunks of marinated pork meat, bbq-ed to perfection!
Nadeje, Plaza Mahkota
A few doors away, you have this little French-inspired cafe.
A relaxing environment greets you inside.
A selection of their finest cakes and crepes. Yes, Mille Crepes and it comes in various flavours.
A simple deco on the wall attracts our Choy Phyll's attention.
It took some time before we 'discovered' where the washroom was.
Coffee or 'The'?
Typo? Na-ah, 'The' is French for 'Tea'.
Tiramisu Cake
(see the many layers forming this cake, at least 20 layers of alternating crepe and cream!)
Chocolate Cake
Strawberry Mousse
The Original Vanilla Mille Crepe
- 'D' BeST!
yin and i with our strawberry yogurt milkshake right before it was then 'stolen' by Jin
Putu Piring and Onde-onde, Bukit Bruang morning market
'Bak Chang' and Nyonya Chang
Look for this brand, Joo Huat - i forgot where... check with me again if you need.
Makko Nyonya Restaurant
So many finger-pointing at the name as it reminds us of 'Mark Korr'...
This was our lunch!
and Ikan Asam Pedas completes a Nyonya feast!
By far, the BEST Babe Porridge* (in Bunga Raya) I've ever eaten...i'm drooling thinking of it now!
*Babe Porridge contains internal organs
Satay Celup, Jln Ong Kim Wee
Come to this outlet for a better tasting satay kuah!
Serious, no kidding, ain't lying...I think it's even better than the Capitol outlet..my opinion la, ppl.
Secret ingredients to making the kuah! (gasp)
50 cents/ 60 cents a schtick, so pls take with caution!
lol, I'm reaching for the century egg with pickled ginger slices - I like!
Looks spicy? That's because IT IS!!
Don't play with your food, ladies.
This is more like it.
ain't this cute? not sure what it is though.
OH, and I just have to say this - from Jonker Street, I bought myself a Doraemon Red Bean Bun...
to GOTCHA people!

Trust me, the texture is exactly like the actual bread, and it smells like Bread too!!

-Come to my house and i'll show you-

free preview screening : WolverinE

Tonight, I attended a preview screening of X-Men Origins : Wolverine, scheduled for nationwide release a day later... ...all thanks to Hitz.FM.

Remember those English exercises we used to do in school where we linked phrases to make up sentences and form a story? Well, this was how I got 4 movie passes to this movie :-

Sometime 10.30pm last week - after shower - in room - overheard on radio - giving away movie passes to 5th sms received - tried for fun - (yes, just for fun) - surprised that sms cost 50 cents - towel-drying hair - deep in thought on money making gimmicks through sms contests - comb hair - something blinking caught corner of eye - discovered phone was vibrating - "aiyah, silent mode rupa2nya" I thought - number of phone looking familiar - number still looking very familiar - eventually answered phone after some time -

siuV : Hello? ...Hello...hello?

AC : HELLLO..is this Sylvia Yep?

siuV : ah yesss...

AC : SYLVIA, this is Adam C and you're the 5th sms and you've just won tickets to watch Wolverine!!!

siuV : YEAA? REALLLY?? WOW, YEYYYYY...YEYYYY...WOOHOOO (fake tone, i know)

AC : Now tell me, do you actually want to go watch Wolverine or Hugh Jackman hmm?

siuV : welllll, I wanna watch BOTH of dem!!!!! Hugh Jackman is such a Hottie!!!

(yea yea, faking it even more...still can't believe I used the word 'hottie' on air! :>)

AC : Yea? well ok, hA hA hA...gonna call you back later to get your details ok?

YESSS!!! That was when I KNEW i was gonna be put on air, so I called as many people I could to tune in to my 20 seconds of fame. Thanks Josephine and bf for accompanying me to the preview. Hope you've enjoyed it as much as I did. Too bad we had to waste the 4th ticket though. What, you wanted to go is it?

Though not in the same class/ league as Ironman nor The Dark Knight, I'm still giving it a 7.5 for :-

1) a clear crisp storyline that actually blends in perfectly well with the earlier X-Men series (this is the prequel, mind you, so if you've never sat through any X-Men movies, the ending of this one will definitely have you going 'uhh..like dat finish oredi ah?') Sit through the credits ok, there's something in there.

2) non-stop action and SFX - never a dull moment, really - unless you turn to see your movie partner has dozed off.

3) Hugh Jackman (drool)............need i elaborate further?Tis the season for summer blockbusters, so I wonder what other movies I can get my hands on...*rub hands with glee*

For now, I'll be dreaming of Wolverine and his adamantine blades that go 'KAR-CHENG!!' (hmm sounds like something else in Hokkien)
