Hunan (Day 6): Zhangjiajie (Yuanjiajie) “Avatar”/ Tianzi Mountain

Renjoy Hotel had a vast variety of food options for breakfast. One could tell this hotel was pretty huge by the large number of diners going for breakfast every morning.

A power breakfast was what we all needed to start another day of walking and mountain sighting.
Our second last day to spend with these awesome tour members whom we have grown accustomed to. from knowing where they hail from and the work they do (or used to do for those retirees) to what their kids are working as. It was quite cute too that a father daughter duo had accidentally signed up for this tour, thinking it was a Chinese speaking guided tour. Still they were such a good sport.

So, generally Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is made up of 4 main sections - Tianzi Mountain, Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie and Huangshizai. Our tour took us to the first 2 sections mentioned as they were the most popular and hence making the other 2 less crowded, less explored and thus less developed. Nevertheless the entire Zhangjiajie National Forest Park spans an area of 48.1 sq km (about 6,740 football fields) and even so, this park is only part of the Wulingyuan scenic area

This is the view of the famous Bailong Elevator, the world's largest outdoor sightseeing elevator

This place is full of towering sandstone pillars rising dramatically from the valley floor, making them the inspiration for the backdrop of the movie Avatar. Branding this site as a UNESCO World Heritage is truly befitting.

Many places to stroll about here, with easy walkways , making it quite an easy feat even for the beginners. All in all, we managed to cover the Hallelujah Mountains (aka Avatar mountains) and Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area. Here are some of the shots taken :-

Photo bombing our tour guides' wefie  LOL

Bumped into a McD on the way and had some to-die-for, super refreshing Affogato Sundae. Wish it was available in Msia too!

Even our cable car ride was so scenic.

Back on the ground, it was off to the Ten-Mile Natural Gallery, which gives the opportunity for travelers to soak in more scenic landscapes of the towering peaks either by riding on a 2km mini train ride or walking alongside the train on a well-made path.

Free time to roam around for more picture taking and steps collection perhaps? LOL, at this point, was already achieving >10K steps.

Artist at work - finger painting using only black ink.
And then it was LUNCH! There was always at least a soup dish in every meal which suits my girl who just loves her rice with soup.

Too fat of a pork belly....  :(

This was our dinner for that night, served at Renjoy Hotel. It was pretty good.

Nice crunchy veggie - no idea what's the name.
Rice wine drinking ceremony with one of our sporting tour members.

Fried kueh teow, China style which was 'meh'

Time to call it a night after a productive day of walking!
