The craze of gourmet burger outlets has caught up in Genting Klang with this considerably new cosy diner called Smashies Burger.
My first thought looking at their multi-colored buns was 'wow, they have strawberry and orange-flavoured buns?'. And then i was told it was merely food coloring. -.-
This is a self-serviced place, hence all its staff are mainly in the kitchen area. As i was a first-timer here, i definitely took a long hard look at what was written on the blackboard.
There was a lot to read.
This certainly brings back memories of my Fergburger days in Queenstown, NZ.
'cept that this place could certainly do with a cleaner and better-dusted background?
Anyways, we finally settled on the 2 main featured burgers on their board - Lord of the Mess (RM 16.99)
and Annoying Orange (a whopping RM 18.99!) (the naive me was still secretly hoping my bun was gonna be an orange-scented one)
Both beef patty burgers turned out to be SO freaking tall, i'd need to dislocate my jaw first before taking a bite off it.
Nevertheless, it was a very wholesome meal despite our burgers not coming with a usual side of fries or soft drink. The patty was juicy and tender, hash brown and bacon all greasy and lip-smacking tasty.
Since it opened, this place has been packed with students, which is kinda a surprise to me, looking at the heftier-than-usual prices this place is charging. Perhaps students here have finally found a 'nearby' alternative to McD? Well, let's hope Smashies is here to stay, shall we? Especially since they only open at night!

Hi Sylvia,
ReplyDeleteThanks for patronlizing Smashies Burger. We use natural ingredients to make our buns. Buns are available in red (yeast), black (charcoal), green (pandan), yellow (lentils), and orange (orange!).
Besides, we now offer knifes and forks for everyone who wants to cut up their burgers for sharing and easy eating.
Hope to serve you better in your next visit!
hey Sylvia, great to read about food in m'sia! cant believe how expensive things are getting there. and how can people afford it? the rich and probably getting richer and vice versa. our burgers here are around the same price.
