choy phyll's birthday at xenri

There is this Japanese restaurant tucked in a quiet corner inside Menara Hap Seng. A few of us recently came here for lunch. It was Choy Phyll's birthday and I'm a sucker for Jap food so I got to decide where to eat. wakakakaka...
I liked the environment - pleasant ambience, spacious and not rowdy...great place to dine and to actually hear what the other person is saying.
This is how the Xenri staff should greet their walk-in customers.
The imbalanced lighting at our table didn't make it too camera-friendly. huu-huu...
Choy Phyll with Fong - The white and blue shirt happens to be our corporate 'uniform' on 2 Fridays in a month.
After spending like half an hour studying the menu, Jin and I finally decided to share a Kaiseki set menu which had a 20% discount using Citibank card.

Costly set all right, but price seems reasonable when you share (also suggested by the waiter).
Here was what my set consists of...

The teriyaki chicken was good too, I heard...
See for yourself... :)
Teppanyaki set
Birthday girl's tempura set also came with a small sashimi serving. sweet.
The entire group, minus one 'camera-shy' person
Ta-daah...Out of nowhere, Ms 'camera-shy' suddenly wants to take a photo with the birthday girl! (Hope she won't kill me for posting this here..)
After makan2, we presented Choy Phyll with this exclusive birthday card...ok, this was actually the envelope.
Xenri gave me a foc loyalty card and a chance to win their RM 100 lucky dip!
Of which I guess I did not win coz no one gave me a call.. :(
So proud we managed to whip up this birthday card in a jiffy!
Seriously, take a look at our creativity and originality......(bangga)

For some reason, poetry is SOOOO the 'in' thing with us nowadays...lol

Even wrote a message on my boss' behalf
and we actually got him to sign on the card too!

taking a break

Miss me?
Life's been busy as I move into my new shell.
Hence, the lack of time spent blogging and hence, the rushed postings.

WHy, it's like I've lost my touch and inspiration to blog!

Could it be because of the feng shui in my new place?
Could it be that my blank mind is now blocked because there are too many walls in my crib as compared to the previous 4 walls of my humble tiny room?

Oh nooOO.....it can't be!

Hopefully it's a temporary feeling...I'll start blogging from my airy balcony.

Meantime, allow me to keep you entertained with this...

Now that you're done squinting, get outta here.
I have to go buy an ironing board.

jane and i

Never been so happy reading at the dinner table... of NOT my apartment, but of 'The Apartment', KLCC.
Located on the outside of KLCC, further down from Chinoz, we sat upstairs where it was more cosy and quiet.

I had Iced Chocolate (my fave kind with thick melted chocolate at the bottom of the glass) while my friend tried a beer from UK (forgot its name..) which tasted more sour than bitter.
My Mushroom Soup which looked more like a bowl of Quaker Oats. It was an ok-ok soup.
My dinner was a breakfast set - eggs on bacon with chips on the side. heee.
Didn't quite like it - eggs were tasteless and bacon not crisped. Only the chips were tasty. My friend's order of pasta. If the picture looks rather dull here, maybe because the food is. Well, it was...kinda.
By naming it 'LOO', it kinda makes the toilet a unisex one.
This was my room-mate from uni days, Jane. Have not met her for ages, but she's hardly changed. Well ok, maybe just her job(s). She is so preoccupied with her work that she only replies smses after a couple of days. hmm..

My turn to buy her dinner next time :)

toilet break at t-bowl

There's a rather new eating place in town. On the 3rd floor of Sungai Wang Plaza to be precise. They've got tables and chairs right smack in the middle of the concourse area.
Looks appealing? Check out the name of this restaurant.
It's a concept restaurant and with a name that reminds you of something you make use of on a daily basis, it's no wonder they make you sit on one too.
Looks quite uncomfortable right? But luckily it's sturdy enough coz they used REAL toilet bowls.
Can't lean though coz I tried lifting up the toilet seat and there was a hole where your butt would fit right through.
Urgh, makes you kinda have the feeling of just doing your business there after dinner. lol.
This is merely a deco for their tables. You can't really wash your hands in here.
And that's their menu.
Nor can you attempt to steal the hair brush.
If sitting on toilet bowls' not your thing, head on into the restaurant where you can dine sitting on the wooden floor. My personal opinion - that looks even more uncomfortable la.
That's like a Peeping Tom. Don't worry, they're just dummies dressed like the waiters.
Ever seen 'UNprocessed' food in a toilet bowl before? (ewww, that's disgusting if you get what I mean..sorry)
Unless you're a dog, I bet this would be your first time drinking (and eating) out of a toilet bowl.
At least my Seafood Black Pepper Udon was served in a more 'civilised' manner - a ceramic PLATE. heee.
Doesn't this Japanese Fried Spaghetti looks yummmmmmmy? Must be the unagi effect.
The more expensive stuff are served in mini toilet bowls. Such as this Cheese Baked Rice with Chicken Chop,
and Cheese Baked Rice with Black Pepper Beef Chop.
Don't worry. The way they present it... acceptable.
This is presumably one of their best-sellers but sausage's not my fave so I gave this a miss.
Kinda resembles something too.
For the sake of my blog, I actually tried to order the most interesting/ colorful drink on the menu! (Crazy or wat..!) So I ended up choosing the 'Blue curacao red canadian lemon blended'. Not baaad...
No biggie about this Honey Lemon drink, just wanted to show you another of their one-of-a-kind mugs.
awww, my friend's so shy.
So let's introduce the drinks - Meet 'Mango Lime Bubble Mocktail' and Grape Yoghurt Shake'.
Thought I'd try their dessert coz it looked like poop on the menu but kinda a letdown, this Coco Vanilla Delight. Stay away from this one.
These were our 2 other guinea pigs that night - Jason and Annie.
And THIS, is one FRIGHTFUL looking poster they got in the restaurant.
Either Mom's having some kind of toothache or she's digging food stuck between her teeth.
