Arthur's Day

Have you heard of Arthur's Day? It's an event celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the lease on the St James’ Gate in Dublin, Ireland, that marked the start of the heritage and legacy of Arthur worldwide.

Arthur’s innovation began a brew that is regarded as remarkable and still enjoyed around the globe until today...That's Guinness btw.

Once in a lifetime thingy, right?

And Malaysia is considered pretty lucky to be chosen as one of the 5 destinations to hold this massive celebration. The other 4 being Dublin, New York, Yaoundé (capital of Cameroon, btw!) and Lagos.

and boy, I was damn lucky to have won tickets to this event too! ^_^
I must first apologise for the photo quality here. No proper cam cam la...and the place was dark and all...BLACK eyed peas maa...Plus the dress code was chic black.
nvm about this pic....um, just focus on how remarkable a brand Guinness is!
There were lots more interesting pieces like this within the vicinity of the concert but it was too dark...so ehm...
and now I bring you the 'GENG' stage.....
...with blinding lights and an awesome sound system!
Did I mention I was there mainly (oh i mean ONLY) for the BLACK EYED PEAS?!
Wooohooo...go FERGIE....in your ever so innocent looking baby T (!)
She sounded a bit screechy though especially when hitting those high loud notes..hmm, must be the sound problem...At one point, the mic went kaput while she was still singing and she was a real sport about it...smiling shyly and all..lol
This is Taboo feat. Fergie's bum..
Another member...Apl..
and finally, Will.i.am...whom in my opinion, gave the best showmanship and skills that night!
one of the many funkily-dressed dancers...!
and the Fireworks to mark the end of this event was a real Spectacle!
My fave performances of the night - Boom Boom Pow, I Gotta Feelin' and Pump It!
Of course all this thanks to Sir Arthur Guinness.....
I had a blast!

jelly bean mania

Something is making Seah cringe. Guess what? It's the original jelly beans by Jelly Belly.
This special 50-flavoured box set was flown all the way from Australia.
Any sort of taste you can think of, you'll find it here - from my favourites 'Cotton Candy', 'Lemon Lime' and 'Cola' to the out-of-this-world 'Buttered Popcorn', 'Habanero Chilli', 'Watermelon' and 'Peanut Butter'...there're plenty more which I can't recall right now.. :D
I just like popping dem into my mouth.
They look like a big box of beads. Edible beads that is...yum...simply awesome!
Buy it from the airports where it's cheaper. Don't forget my share yea.

balik kampung...

I have gone back home for the holidays...even before the Malays (haha).

It's getting more expensive coming home during the festive period. For eg, my bus ticket was so-named 'bas tambahan' so it had an additional 'surcharge (?)' of RM 3, making it RM 15.30/way. sigh. Plus I had to board the bus from Kompleks Sukan Negara, Bukit Jalil.
Glad I am back though and able to visit the pasar malam that I grew up going to every Wednesday ^_^

famous bakuteh in melaka

Next time you're in my hometown, try out this famous bakuteh shop in Batu Berendam. I do not have the address but I hope I'll be able to guide you there lest my super-duper memory fails me (to be read as 'you had better ask me fast, knowing my short-term memory would probably bring you to an entirely different corner of Melaka).
According to my Dad, they open from morning till late afternoon.
Not to mention Dad even told me about the couple who runs the place...something like
'waaah u know ah, the Lady was once married to the Guy's brother who then divorced her...then ah, the Guy also divorced his wife...so ah, since both Lady and Guy found themselves single, they were like "Hey why dun we get together and sell bakuteh"...' dun quote me now.

I've tried numerous bakuteh eateries but this particular one sure takes the cake for serving...

... the biggest, meatiest and chunkiest pork slabs!
NICE that they do not stinge on their 'treasures-in-a-pot'.
Not to mention, the soup was herbalicious too...just suits my palate.
They even served Yam rice...I'd prefer mine with plain white rice.

How I eat my bakuteh ... flood my rice (white pls) with the soup and eat it with lots of cili padi!!

YUP, that's it! I'm a sucker for all kinds of soup!! and who could forgo the yew tiao...

And the first time I see their vegetable dish 'very' generously topped with greasy, 'heart attack-inviting' pork fat!! *guilty*
nah, didn't touch those pork bits... *phew* Could not resist the pork though...delectable! And all for RM 39 only (3 pax)
Now I'd better go jog my 50 laps.

eggylicious!

Found this pleasant surprise sitting on my desk this morning. I love hard-boiled eggs!

yup, and behind it, my trusty old eraser which has been with me for 5 years. how long can an eraser last?!
Thanks sweetie, for the lovely gesture... (=^.^=)

c o o l i t . . .

hurrayy..i'm almost 100% recovered from my bout of fever, blah, flu, blah, blah, sore throat, blah.

Maybe it helped that I gorged myself with wasabi during my unagi rice meal yesterday.

Been taking lots of fluids containing the so-called 'cooling effect', i.e. coconut water, herbal tea, sugarcane, watermelon juice and of course barley water. Even if it was purple in colour.

darn those meds..

Is it just me or does all company's panel GP gives the crappiest of meds the first time you visit them?

By 'crappiest', I don't mean prescribing flu meds for a gastric problem, but rather giving you a Grade C (or D) med instead of the real deal.

I'm getting the idea they're doing this
- under the 'orders' of the company which recruited them as a panel, in a move to cut cost.
- so that the patient may return for a second time in their attempt to get a stronger, which also means a more expensive medication
- to start the patient off with a milder medication as stronger types might be detrimental to the body
(I'm hoping it's the latter)

I'm saying this because I'm feeling I've wasted a whole week from work, all because I've been taking the wrong antibiotic medication. Ok, maybe not wrong, but certainly unsuitable.
My body temp has been on a roller coaster ride the whole week and I've felt like a pill-popping doll. I may as well be Ms. Panadol.

All it took was a friend to drag me to another doctor (non-panel, mind you) last night and it was then that I discovered I had been swallowing the very very mildest form of antibiots (probably just fit for kids). No wonder I hadn't been feeling a tad better!

Needless to say, I got a better antibiots this time around even though I had to pay RM50 for it. All it took was one green capsule to make me sleep like a baby last night and for me to wake up with a smile on my face this morning...I MUST have slept well coz I dreamt I was making Eggs Benedict for breakfast for my besties, Yin and Jin!! Seriously.

and also maybe that's what I get for sticking my nose in front of the AFC channel day in day out for the past 5 days.

Just a thought.

moon's birthday

This was Moon's stunned look on the morning of his birthday... and his (shy) look after he realises it's his birthday that day.
That evening, we girls brought him to Dragon-i for a simple makan. Sajie has disappeared from this photo. So nice we were given the VIP table.
And then there were Tan and Mark too who were not about to let Moon be bullied by just the girls.
This must be Moon's idea of 'It's my big day and I don't hafta do a single thing..including taking my own plate of sambal'
The dishes we ordered....the theme is 'variety'!!
